iPhone 4 reception issue

I owe many Apple products like iPhone 3G, iMac, Macbook Pro, iPad, Airport Extreme, etc... I am kinda like a big fan of Apple although I don't want to admin that. Because I don't want to be so tight to a single company which eventally it will own my life so easily, just like what Google can do nowadays.

Anyway, today I would like to talk about the new Apple iPhone 4. There are a lot of articles on the net are already talking about Apple iPhone 4 reception issue. By reading those articles, video to test how it will affect if we hold it in a "wrong" way, I can see that how badly is the problem. To me, I feel ridiculous if I was told that the way I hold the phone is wrong right now, after almost 15 years "experience" of using a mobile phone. If the "how to hold a mobile phone user guide" is actually coming from Apple itself, I would say how stupid would that be the act. It seems Apple is going to challenge everyone who uses mobile phone nowadays, by after more than 20 years that the first affordable mobile phone came out to the world. I guess that's one of the main reason why people are attacking on that way as people are angry of their response...

Although Apple claimed that the email coming from Steve is fake, it doesn't actually "change" the iPhone 4 reception problem. You can search from many videos which demonstrate the reception problem by using a single finger to cover the bottom left hand side of the phone (which essentially connect 2 metal pieces by a finger). The reception will drop slowly, it's not about seeing the bars from the display, it's about the actualy reception/tranmission from the phone. Apparently it's a design issue.
As I said before, I am "kinda" a big fan of Apple, but I hate the fact that they didn't admit the problem. Instead, they said they will "fix" the problem by changing the software display (change the forumla to calculate the reception bar on screen). And at the same time, they urge people to buy their extra rubber band (iPhone 4 Bumper) product to cover the phone by saying personalise your phone, but is actually to reduce the chance to connect those 2 metal pieces by your hand, which then will fix the problem quietly. If they could admit the actual problem, and gives the rubber band for free for those existing users, or maybe change slightly to their design afterward, or simply just give the rubber band for free to anyone who buy the phone later, I would be more than happy to hear that. Because at the end of the day, iPhone is not just about the beautiful appearance, it's also about the usage. I guess people would still buy it if the usability is good.

Speaking of the reception problem, I found that my old Nokia phone (the one that I have is E52) have the same issue. If I use my hand to cover up the bottom part of the phone. The reception will actually drop too! (dramatically in my test) I guess it's not just Apple to have the problem, but also happens in other phones.

So if I were asked whether to buy the new iPhone4G or not, I probably would still buy it, but probably not right away.
